Our microscope images overcome the limitations of shallow depth of focus by using 'deep-focus' technology.

Microscopes can only focus on a thin slice of an object at one time. In order to overcome this limitation we record a series of images taken at different focus levels. To produce a fully-focused image, a computer program analyzes each image in the series, selecting the in-focus portions, and discarding the out-of-focus portions of each image. All of the in-focus portions are then seamlessly combined into a single image that is sharply focused from foreground to background. The result is a real-color, three-dimensional, deep-focus picture that illuminates the structure of the specimen more accurately, showing an entirely new dimension of information compared with standard 2D images
